Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.
But that stuff I'm talking about - I'm not talking about doing that for 20 years; I'm talking about taking a year or however long I need to just step back from the sport, decompress, download, figure out where I am in my life, where my children are in their lives.
I guess I was pretty hard headed. I mean, I was an athlete, I would always have little aches and pains, little colds, little problems that would come and go... so I thought if I coughed up a little blood and if I don't do it tomorrow, then it must not have been any big deal!
